The Reconstructive Surgery Division of the Arthritis Center of Connecticut is committed to the treatment of injuries, arthritis, malfunction and other conditions of the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and peripheral nerves.  When conservative measures are not satisfactory, then the latest surgical techniques are available.

Our specialties include:  general orthopaedics, total joint replacement, sports medicine, hand surgery, independent medical examinations (IMEs), and second opinions.

Dr. Richard A. Matza is the chief operating surgeon at the Arthritis Center and has been in practice in Waterbury Connecticut since 1978.  He is affiliated with all the major hospitals in the greater Waterbury area including St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, and the Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center.
